It’s so crazy to think I started my last first day of school for my undergraduate degree this past Monday. I can’t believe I’m 3 months away from earning my Bachelor’s degree. I can’t believe I’m so close to earning my second degree. My main goal for my last semester is to do my very best and earn the highest GPA I can. My mom didn’t finish school and although my father did I never had his support growing up. My stepfather has always been tough on me so earning my degree at the end of the year will be the most accomplished thing in my life to date that I earned on my own. I’m very excited for my future and for what’s to come. I have so many ideas and plans for my future the first one is finding a job to build a career from and moving up from there.
After that, I want to start saving money to travel because I haven’t seen my grandmother and my extended family in 16 years (Since I was 5 years old). Going to Thailand is my ultimate dream because I really do miss my grandmother and I would love to experience Thailand now that I’m older. I want to see everything and experience everything. From riding an elephant to going to the beach and staying in a fancy hotel in the capital. I want to go to the countryside and see where part of my family is from experience my roots for myself. I would love to immerse myself in the culture and get away from the pressures I’ve been dealing since being on my own and growing up. I want to have the most fun when I go there and I’ve been dreaming of this trip for so long, once I graduate I’ll be one step closer. I’ve been planning to go to Thailand since I was a kid and I’ve always said I would go once I finish school. First, it was high school, but then I started college and then I transferred and now my journey is coming to an end.
Besides getting to see the country I want to get to know my extended family because I’ve been so disconnected with them lately since being on my own. The only form of contact I’ve had with them from 5 years old to 18 years old is through phone calls. I didn’t even see how everyone’s aged until social media and then started video chatting with them once in a while. I really want to get to know my family and connect with them and feel like family since I haven’t had that in so long. I want to leave Thailand with a greater bond to my extended family and with my roots.
My first day of school was good, but not too exciting. It was just a normal day beside it being my last first day. I went to two classes and sat through the same professor introducing herself and listening to classmates introduce themselves. After attending my classes I went home. I was very excited, but a little disappointed since it wasn’t as fun as I thought it would be. It was a little bland and very calm. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. I will say I got some good selfies at school. LOL, I didn’t make any friends off the bat, but my second day went a little better.
I talked a little more in one of my classes since it was more group oriented. I’m definitely super excited for one of my classes because it’s a negotiation class and there are role-playing exercises where you demonstrate the lessons in the book by acting them out in arguments. Y’ALL I LOVE TO ARGUE LOL. I am so stoked for this class and my entrepreneur management class because I have to write a condensed business plan which I am really looking forward to. I’m really excited to learn and apply everything in my future business because I want to be an entrepreneur one day. I plan on using everything I learn in my future business.
I will walk across the stage at my university in May 2019 although I will already have earned my degree as of December 2018 and I couldn’t be more stoked for it! That’s going to be the best day of my life until I make it Thailand and then get married and so on. I want to make my mom proud, but I also don’t want anyone to take away my moment. I worked so damn hard to graduate and I earned it all by myself. Walking across the stage is such a big moment for me. It’s been a long journey for earning this degree and for doing it on my own with having to work on top of going to class and being on my own with my own place in a new city.
Here’s my back to school haul these are my supplies!
For my last semester, I bought my supplies earlier in the year when they were on clearance such as a binder, folders, dividers, pencils, pens, erasers, and planners. I’m using the same backpack I used last year, and switching off with a new purse I bought earlier this summer. I also bought clothes, but that will come up in a future post so stay tuned.
My last first day of school was pretty normal, yet exciting and I can’t wait to graduate!!!!! I’m looking forward to each week, although I know it will be my most stressful semester because I am working more hours while taking 5 classes simultaneously. I wanted to take 6 classes, unfortunately, it interferes with my work schedule and the class isn’t necessary so I decided against it. I really wanted to retake a class so I could redeem myself a little grade-wise, but I’m also trying not to hold it over myself since I did try my best in that class and I’m doing the best I can. I’m trying to count more of my wins than my losses this year and that’s one of the main wins since I did pass the class. How was your first day of school?
