Decorating your home for the holidays! Blogmas Day 11

How do you decorate your home for the holidays? I’m currently trying to find a balance of not overdoing it simply due to space and money. I don’t have enough storage nor space to have all of the decorations I can think of at the moment. However, my taste right now for decorating is less is more. I definitely need to become more of a minimalist because I don’t want to be a hoarder…again. Lol I also have no money to spend on expensive and extravagant decorations.

Here’s what I start off with:

Candles- I’m placing a candle on each of my tables and having them as center pieces. I have like 10 candles right now that I’d like to use and enjoy. They are all different scents, but they definitely pull the room together because it’s been more gloomy in California lately and the candles help lighten everything up. Plus the smell is great, especially since I have Brody now.

Lights- OMG you guys should know I’m obsessed with lights and right now I’m setting up my room with sooo many lights. It’s coming together amazingly and I can’t wait to share it with you guys. You can get string lights from $1-$10, I wouldn’t spend more than $10 because you can build up on the smaller lights. I have like 4 or 5 sets of lights and I’m just finding nice places for them so they can all be together alone, but look amazing next to the other lights.

Center pieces- These are so simple and easy to make. My boyfriend made one for me on Valentine’s Day earlier this year, it’s a really nice glass bowl with potpurri in it and it smells amazing! That sits at the center of our kitchen table. While on another little stand I have a decorated mason jar with little lights inside. On our coffee table are pictures and a little fountain I adore.

Tree- Ya’ll a tree is nice this time of year, I’ve had mine up since October. NO SHAME! I’m obsessed with my little 1 foot Christmas tree and seeing it makes me happy so why not. The reason I put it up in October is my birthday is in October and then after my birthday I get excited for Halloween and then Christmas!!!!! So yeah, I fast forward a tiny bit. My tree only cost me $1 at DollarTree, check out your local bargain shop and see if you can score a nice tree for under $50 because trees can get expensive. It’s more for you anyways, half the fun is decorating it and making it your own. Have fun with and enjoy it.

Ornaments- I plan on making some ornaments this year soon. I bought some clear plastic ornaments, but I haven’t gotten around to decorating them yet. This year I have a really nice spot to put my tree so I’ll be able to hang more ornaments on it which I’m super excited for. I’ll also be making a little collage of ornaments to hang on my wall somewhere in my apartment to bring more holiday spirit into my home!

Picture collages- Definitely going to be updating some of my current pictures that I have up and have Christmas themes in the background so I can switch them out for each holiday to come. I think it’s a great way to bring in the new year. I would recommend using Canva or a simple pic collage app to create some collages and then just print them at your local drug store like CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart or whatever’s closer.

This is how I’ll be decorating for the next two weeks, hope you enjoyed this post and I hope you visit my blog again!
