Makeup is fun and a great way to express yourself an art form even, but it can also build insecurity. With the discovery of makeup comes the issue of hiding your natural beauty and feeling too embarrassed to leave your home without it because you don’t feel comfortable or like yourself without it. It’s a lesson to learn better when you’re young before you develop insecurities that will take you years to grow from.
You should be proud of who you are, what you look like and all of your natural features. Start by slowly toning down the amount of makeup you wear or start by going bare-faced one day a week until you reach a full week. I would advise going one full month without wearing an ounce of makeup. It helps build up your confidence and gets you used to your face and features slowly.
What are the benefits?
This confidence boost is much needed when you’re young, and fresh out of high school trying to figure out who you are and what you want to do with your life. You have to learn to love yourself first, and you can’t do that without loving every feature you have. It’s best to start with loving your face.
If you’re prone to acne this will help you! If you’re scared, don’t be (easier said than done I know) everyone has gotten acne whether they currently have it or not they have all felt how you feel. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about, your acne will disappear and leave when it’s time.
Note: If you have severe acne please consult a dermatologist and watch my girl, Katrina’s video because she has some wonderful tips that might be of help to you!
You can touch your face
Um hello, this is like the best benefit of all because you can’t rub your eyes or sneeze when you have makeup on. You’re constantly worrying about messing up your makeup and then poof there goes the eyeliner that took you 10 minutes to apply this morning once you accidentally rub your eye.
WARNING: Don’t touch your face too much because the oils transfer from your fingers to your face can cause acne.
Do you hide behind makeup? Maybe you should think about doing this no makeup challenge for one month. That’s what I did and it helped boost my confidence more than ever.
Both are pictures of me without makeup, the bottom one might have a filter. The lighting was just could I had to take a picture.
