Why I Stopped Buying Makeup?

Hey guys I know it’s been a while, but I’ll be sure to explain once things are a little more uplifting. I’m currently dealing with something else in life which has caused me to be unmotivated especially with my blog. I plan on getting back to schedule and posting regularly again. Thanks for understanding. <3

Anyways summer is around the corner and it’s been getting SUPER HOTT or is it just me? Nope it can’t be…because I live in sunny California and the sun has definitely taken it’s toll on me. I’ve already gone swimming twice this past week and it felt AMAZING!!! I also already have a tan line so your girl is going to be brownnn this year. Lol. I usually try to avoid the sun at all costs, but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen this year. Also I don’t like how pale I currently am. Lol (I know I know I don’t wanna be dark, but I don’t wanna be light either I don’t make any sense. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk) I’m so not looking forward to putting my makeup on in the summer, so thankfully we’re in spring!

Let’s get on with it! I decided earlier this week that I will not be making anymore makeup and beauty purchases until I have used up all of the current products I have. I think it’s a great way to encourage myself to try new looks and to finish up more of my products. Not to mention I’ll be saving money and it’ll be better for the environment since I’ll also be creating less waste!

One of my resolutions for this year was to incorporate more minimalist ideas into my lifestyle so “I don’t become a hoarder”. Well, we are officially 4 months into the year and I’m doing pretty well with my minimalist ideas and this idea is my next big one. I’ll be sure to update you guys on what products I go through and new purchases I make if any. I would only purchase a new item if I don’t have any other item to use in it’s place. For example, I currently have 2 foundations if I ran out of both then I would buy a new foundation or just not use foundation until I use up more of my beauty products. (I probably won’t buy one until I reduce more of my current products.)

Ideally, I would like to use up as much makeup and beauty products as I can. My goal is to have at least half of my makeup used by the end of summer. I think I can definitely meet this goal with how my usage has been going. I’ve been wearing my makeup a lot more than usual lately and that’s been helping considerably. It would be extremely nice to have a clear side on my side of the bathroom since I do have a ton of products. They’re organized for sure, but I’m not going through as many products as I would like to.

idea was also inspired by a Refinery video I watched on how to reduce waste with your beauty routine. I have always supported vegan, cruelty-free, and natural products and sustainability just goes along with everything I believe in. After watching that video I felt reassured in my goal to reduce my beauty routine.

I started on Monday, so from now on I will be trying to use up all of my current beauty products until the end of summer. I’ll be updating you guys every two weeks. If you’re up for the challenge I encourage you to do the same with whatever timeline you decide. You’ll save money and have a little savings for once you’re done with the challenge to buy new products that you’ll want to try.
