My natural hair is dark brown and straight. I started dying my hair when I was 18. I had always wanted to dye my hair, but I didn’t have the guts to do it in high school. My parents are really strict, but I’m older now so that doesn’t matter. I have never dyed my hair a natural color and have never gotten my hair done professionally because it costs so much and the upkeep isn’t worth it to me yet. It’s definitely worth, but I haven’t found a job where it’s acceptable to have an unnatural dyed hair. Once I do, I’ll probably get my hair done professionally. I’ve always wanted to go light brown to see if that would make me appear “Whiter” and black to see if that would make me look more “Thai” and bleach blonde because it’s so bold! OOOO definitely on my to do list, two things stop me from going through with bleach blonde. One the upkeep and not being able to afford it and getting it done in cycles. The second thing being it will KILL my hair because it’s all bleach. If I ever do, it’ll definitely be on here.
I started with my favorite color which is blue. I was aiming for an aqua, I ended up getting a dark bright navy blue. It was beautiful and I loved it. Then about a week later I dyed it again thinking I could make it brighter…I made it darker. Lesson learned. It lasted about a month and then faded to gray which I kept until I got my routinely trim.
The next color I planned to do was purple. I bought this cheap dye from Sally’s. Needless to say even with my hair bleached it washed out. After bleaching my hair for the my second attempt at purple hair, but after I spent so much time bleaching my hair I liked the blonde so I kept it. I had that for a few months then I dyed it purple and it didn’t last.
My third attempt was purple again and once I finally got it, I loved it! I don’t know what it is about changing your hair yourself, but it’s so much fun. If you’ve never done it, watch Jenna Marble’s hair tutorial and you can see for yourself. I’ll leave the link. After watching the tutorial I wanted my hair her hair color. It was so entertaining. One of my most recent attempts was aqua again, but my hair wasn’t light enough after I bleached it so I ended up with a teal green. The color grew on me and my friend had the same color so we got to be twins for a while.
My last attempt was aqua and I achieved it!!!!!! It was my favorite hair color. After a few weeks it faded to a teal which you’ll see. Regardless I enjoyed every second of it. It was so much fun having that color.
I recommend the hair dye Ion and using a developer if your hair is as dark as mine or darker. The developer is definitely necessary, that’s what got my hair to turn AQUA!
