First off, I’ve been working pretty continuously once I got my first job. Prior to getting an “official job” I had 3 internships, 2 volunteering experiences, and worked when I was 11 years old. Being that my parents are addicted to the casino and bills wouldn’t get paid on time too often, I’ve learned to manage my expenses pretty well if I do say so myself. I always have something in my savings, even if it’s barely anything it’s something that I can count on if I ever need a little bit of money for whatever reason.
I divide my paychecks into money for bills and money to set aside for myself. Now that I’ll be in my last semester of college, I’m trying to save as much as possible. I have 3 financial goals I’d like to accomplish by the end of next year. One of them being to have enough money saved up for my bills during summer so I won’t accumulate debt for large expenses that are necessary, but don’t come at the best times. My next goal is to start saving to have a nice savings account where I can show how hard I’ve worked. My last goal is put enough money aside to pay off at least half of my student loans next year. Overall I plan on saving a lot of money because come to the third week of December I’ll be working full time again and I’ll be working towards all of my financial goals.
I haven’t had many problems with money, sure I love buying clothes but most girls do. This summer, I haven’t done much shopping and I don’t think I will in the future either because I want to buy my basics and splurge when I really want to and can afford to simply put. Honestly with working 30+ hours a week and going to school full time, I know I won’t have much time to be going out as much as I’d like. My weekdays will be busy and my weekends will be spent relaxing and studying so I can meet my personal academic goals.
